Early Days at the Marquee Sadly, in my research, I uncovered the sad truth about the British Blues scene. The forefathers and pioneers Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies who nurtured and promoted and influenced such greats as the Stones, Beatles, Manfred Mann etc., were soon over shadowed by their ‘protégées’.

The London Rhythm and Blues scene prior to the Stones:-
In 1954, Alexis Korner and Cyril Davies opened up a club in Soho - The Barrelhouse, for the musicians of that community. In 1961, Korner and Davies formed Blues Incorporated featuring at times Charlie Watts, Long John Baldry, *Graham Bond, Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Keith Richard, Eric Burdon, Paul Jones, Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker and Dick Heckstall-Smith.

In 1963 Graham Bond, formed the Organization with Bruce, Baker and Dick Heckstall-Smith Baker and Bruce left the Organization to form Cream.

Long John Baldry was the voice of Doctor Ivo 'Eggman' Robotnik in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog program during the early nineties.

In 1965, the Hoochie Coochie Men became Steampacket with Baldry and Rod Stewart as male vocalists, Baldry also formed Bluesology featuring Reg Dwight on keyboards, no less!

  4. One person who didn't get a mention in the members of Blues Incorporated was Sydney-based jazz pianist, Dave Stevens who was in the band at the same time as Dick Heckstall-Smith, Cyril Davies, Jack Bruce and I believe Charlie Watts.
